Abalone shells are among the most beautiful shells used for jewelry,  the abalone shell with its beautiful colors is believed to have an effect on the energy centers of the body also known as “Chakras”. It is believed that it helps bring them into alignment and balance.

There are 9 species of abalone living in the waters of north America and they produce shells in a wide range of colors that are used for jewelry and  they are also used as inlays for guitars and furniture.

Abalones live for many years and reach sizes of up to 8 inches in length. ‘Abalone’ is the North American name for the mollusk, which is known as Paua in New Zealand, Ormer in Britain’s Channel Islands and Awabi in Japan.
